Sensor Overload Winners

Sensor Overload Winners

18/07/2011

MINDSTORMS NXT Robots are designed to sense their environment and react in ways that you invent. We challenged NXTLOGgers to create the NXT great robot that makes use of as many sensors as one could imagine. We opened up the award categories to include individual awards in all sensor areas, and one award to include the use of many. We could only highlight a few winners based on our judging criteria, but make sure to visit, comment, rate, and get inspired by all the entries by searching the tag "sensoroverload."

Here are the winners:

ULTRASONIC SENSOR AWARD
This award goes to the user who makes best use of one or more ultrasonic sensors.

NxRadar
Created by: 1nxtmonster

There were many MINDSTORMS NXT Radar projects submitted to this building challenge that made great use of the Ultrasonic Sensor. We liked 1nxtmonster's simplistic design and the way the sensor scanned the environment and made a picture on the LCD screen of what the "radar" scanned. 1nxtmonster includes a great movie and .rbt file. Congrats!

LIGHT/COLOR SENSOR AWARD
This award goes to the user who makes best use of one or more light and or color sensors (or a combination of both).

Tilt the Tank (Sensoroverload)!!
Created by: bertha757

bertha757 designed a tank with a color sensor enabled controller. When the color sensor sees different colors (or no color) it moves left, right, forward, or stops. There's a great video and .rbt file included in this NXTLOG.

SOUND SENSOR AWARD
This award goes to the user who makes best use of one or more sound sensors.
Rock Band
Created by: thecove

MINDSTORMS ROCKS! With this robot project, you make a noise into the Sound Sensor microphone which triggers a LEGO guitar and drums! MINDSTORMS live band karaoke anyone?

TOUCH SENSOR AWARD
This award goes to the user who makes best use of one or more touch sensors.

Touch Sensor Explorer (Sensor Overload)
Created by: droidfreak36

This speedy rover makes efficient use of just 2 Motors and 2 Touch Sensors. The robot detects obstacles when the Touch Sensors hit the bumper on the front and reacts quickly to avoid them. Check out the video on this NXTLOG to see the rover bump its way out of a tight corner and a "forest" of chair legs! Great robot design droidfreak36!

ROTATION SENSOR AWARD
This award goes to the user who makes best use of one or more rotation sensors.

pull and release car
Created by: qazisthebest

This is a really cool MINDSTORMS NXT version of the old fashioned pull and release car toy! In this case, the NXT "records" the number of rotations the user car pulls backards and then "plays" it back in motion when you release the vehicle. We can't wait to build and program our own!

SENSOR OVERLOAD AWARD
This award goes to the user who makes best use of many MINDSTORMS NXT Sensors and/or HiTechnic sensors, and Codatex RFID sensors.

The JoyRider
Created by: -Vuurzoon-

The JoyRider enables you to perform exciting actions like a Wheely, a Spin and a so called ZigZag. To cool down a little after all these G-forces, you can cruise around in your JoyRider while listening to fantastic Mindstorms music. Meanwhile, special light effects will flash at the beat of the music. Enjoy the ride! 7 sensors are used within the JoyRider design. Check out -Vuurzoon-'s well documented NXTLOG to learn more about this super slick, well equipped, green machine!
