Robotic Pet contest Winners

EEEEEK! It’s a mouse! It’s rat! It’s a hissing cockroach! No, it’s just a robotic pet! The last NXTLOG challenge was to invent a MINDSTORMS NXT robotic pet of your own. The robot could be a common domestic pet, like a dog or cat. Or it could be a more exotic pet, like a parrot or dragon! The pet had to act like one and like to be "pet." Many NXTLOGgers submitted an amazing set of animals you would want to take home. Make sure to visit, comment, rate, and get inspired by all the entries by searching the tag "roboticpet."

This award goes to the user who best replicates a common domestic pet.

F.I.D.O - Fully Interactive Dog Operation

F.I.D.O. is a cute, adorable, fully interactive robotic dog that can perform most of the tricks a real dog could do! F.I.D.O. can wag its tail, shake its head, follow a ball and react to sounds and the environment. F.I.D.O. also likes to be pet (like most dogs). nxtcreator6604 provdidea a great video, pictures, and NXTLOG description that tells all about F.I.D.O.'s featutres. Congrats nxtcreator6604 for creating a great robotic domestic pet!

EXOTIC PET AWARD
This award goes to the best example of an exotic robotic pet. Exotic pets can be fun, but can harm humans and other animals if not cared for properly. Make sure you create a fun, but safe exotic pet.

BlazingFire - A NXT Pet Dragon

BlazingFire is an attention seeking, slow-walking, and human interacting dragon that's less than two feet tall and ejoys being pet! It has of two NXT Intelligent Bricks, six motors, four sensors, four legs, a neck, head, and tail. This robot can rear up onto its hind legs, sense and grab objects with a pneumatic claw on its arm, move its claw closer to its mouth, and "take bites out of" the object! NatoNX sketched his ideas for this robot and consulted with family members on the design and name. BlazingFire is one amazing exotic pet and deserving of the EP award!

CREATIVE PET AWARD
This award will go to the most creative and colorful robotic pet. Did you create a new species? Or is your model of a ferret or dog super innovative? We can’t wait to see the most creative pets.

The White Duck

This NXT Duck built by -Hupie- at a 1:1 scale really looks and behaves like a real Duck! -Hupie- designed a course for this Duck to interact on. When the Duck finds her nest (by follwing a line), it lays an egg. Then the Duck and her chicks (powered by power function motors) work to evade a robotic rat predator! For a very creative robot, series of programs, and "neighborhood" of realistic robotic animals, we award -Hupie- with the Creative Pet Award!

Dewey, an NXT Dinosaur

Dewey is a interactive robot bipedal dinosaur that walks (or dances) around, navigates his environment, enloys being pet, sleeps, and eats. Dewey uses one NXT, three motors, one touch sensor, one sound sensor, one light sensor, and one ultrasonic sensor. This robot is rather large and intimidating, but travels with ease. Dewey's owner, MySnalEatsPizza, has given Dewey several moods to enliven his personality. Dewey can be content, sad, happy, hungry, and sleepy. For a highly interactive robot, we award MySnailEatsPizza with the interactive pet award.
