Thursday 23 September Team Landroids landed in Billund Airport and started their tour at the LEGO Group Headquarters, as part of their First Prize from the MoonBots contest.
Coaches John and Pearl accompanied Jeff, Stanley, Karlin, Brian and Gage, together with the family members Linda, Lesley and Barbara, and was first presented for the history of the LEGO Group in the historical museum in the Lion House, the house where the company started from in 1932.
The team got to meet with members of the LEGO MINDSTORMS design team, and also got the Inside tour to the factory, seeing moulding machines and the enormous warehouses where all elements are stored, as well as a Behind-the-Scenes tour of LEGOLAND Billund on Friday 24 September.
During the session with the LEGO MINDSTORMS design team, team Landroids got to show their winning model in action in a Lunar landscape set up for the occassion, and met with the CEO of the LEGO Group, Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, who were fascinated by their inventions and skills in programming!
The last full day in Denmark was Saturday 25 September, where the team went with some LEGO designers to Aarhus to see the finale of the WRO (World Robot Olympiad) event, where students were competing with LEGO MINDSTORMS robots in pole-climbing challenges.
All members reported having a great time in Billund, and it was truly a great experience for the LEGO MINDSTORMS team to meet them in person and to exchange ideas about what you can do with our robotics kits!
Thanks to Team Landroids and their families for the efforts in the MoonBots contest, and likewise our greetings to ALL teams who participated in the contest!
