LEGO.com MINDSTORMS Overview

The LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT includes a wireless Bluetooth node that enables the NXT brick to communicate with other Bluetooth devices.

About Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a technology that makes it possible to send and receive data without using wired or cables. Using Bluetooth, you can exchange programs between your NXT and other NXT’s. You can establish a wireless connection between your computer and your robot. Try out programs instantly, even with your robot on the other side of the room!

If you have a mobile phone with Bluetooth capability, you can use it to control your robot. You might even be able to use it as an advanced sensor, like a camera sensor.

LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT is compatible with:

PC Users:
LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT is compatible with Bluetooth Software included in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 and WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software for Windows v 1.4.2.10 SPS or newer.

Mac Users:
MINDSTORMS NXT is compatible with Bluetooth Software included in Apple MacOS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.

You must use one of the above if you wish to establish a wireless connection between your computer and the MINDSTORMS NXT intelligent brick.

The table below list a number of devices with Bluetooth enabled wireless technology that has been tested by LEGO and our partners.

Note! The devices listed have only been tested with Widcomm® Bluetooth for Windows newer than v. 1.4.2.10 SP5 and the Bluetooth stacks included in Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 / Apple MacOS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.
