Ask the NXTperts - Tips from the NXTperts

Category:Building

June 2008 My robot tips over a lot if it bumps into something. How do I get it to stay upright? I have some problems getting acquainted with studless building. Is there any help available somewhere for starters?

First there isn't really an "upside down" or "backwards" to the motors: since they can be run either way, which way you call "forward" really doesn't matter. You can always change it in the program to go the way you want. Even the NXT-G programming language shows this, as motor direction is set with "up" or "down" arrows, not "left"/"right" or "forward"/"backward". Second, the built-in Help files for the Motor and Move block explain with pictures which direction the motor will move - take a look at them.
