Ask the NXTperts - Tips from the NXTperts

Category:Building

May 2008

Since you've only just built the starter robot, one of the easiest things to consider next is modifying the robot. Maybe remove any existing sensors or add some new ones. Does the robot only have the Touch Sensor? Remove the Touch Sensor and add the Sound Sensor. Now, ask yourself "How do I need to modify the program to use the Sound Sensor instead of the Touch Sensor?"

If the robot only uses two motors, you might also try to also use the third motor; have this motor spin a propeller or maybe hold a flag you've created straight up in the air.

If you want to build a completely new robot, one final suggestion is to attempt to build a new robot that performs the same function(s) as the starter robot; you've already got the program so all you need to do is make a new version of the starter robot and upload the program.
